Scott’s Supercharged 1962 Volvo P1800

Scott is showing off his P1800 outside his place of employment. Yup, you guessed it, that would be Volvo Corporate in New Jersey.

Old cars are all fun by themselves but it is the people you meet in the journey that makes it worth while. Scott checked in to say hi and talk shop. His 1962 Volvo P1800 is a Jensen built car with chassis number 3440.

As you can see, it was not perfect on the outside but straight and solid.

Scott added a Judson Supercharger specifically made for the P1800.
This is an era correct accessory that will not upset the “everything-has-to-be-original…crowd” too much…But then again, who cares! It’s cool!

If you have a supercharger, you should have a way to monitor the mounting pressure. Scott found the solution in the Judson Supercharger Guage. I think he paid a little more than $12.60 though…

…and here it is.

As most car guys, Scott wanted to improve the car. The dash was in OK shape for the age but it could use some help.

So…the dash and instruments were completely restored.

You know how it goes…a new dash only goes with a new interior.

Here goes the slippery slope…with a perfect interior, we have to have a perfect drivetrain. The engine was gone thru completely.

The Judson supercharger was also gone thru and detailed to original specs.

With a fresh drivetrain and interior, Scott figured he would need a like new body. Now the car is in the shop getting a new paint job.

Suspension was completely rebuild and detailed. Note beefy aftermarket anti sway bar. Less sway = more fun.

Everything was totally disassembled in order to prep and paint for a better than new paint job.

Scott even found an NOS set of the rare wheel covers.

You can see the finished car here.
