Back in the day…

So while researching my own family’s “Volvo history” I ran across several old black & white photos with our beloved cars in  focus and sometimes out of focus. Regardless, they are just too cool not to share:

This is my dad, stylin’ in his new company car. Based on the roof mounted blinker, it must be a 1950 to 1952 model car. Check out the door mounted search light!

This is dad looking all Don Draper with grandma and mom. Check out those furs! All the rage!

Note the “M” emblem in the grille. That stood for “Motormännens riksförbund” , that means roughly “men of motor organization” similar to AAA today. Sexist? Sure. They way it was? Sure.

Mom taking yours truly for a walk with our right hand drive 121 Amazon as backdrop.

By The Way, this house and location looks exactly the same today!

My uncle Per-Olof (Pelle) with his company car, a brand new Volvo Duett.

He worked for a brewery so that is the logo on the door.

In 1955 the river Mölndalsån close to my dad’s office flooded.

This is from a book about Göteborg from the 50’s. This story is about some ball-bearing manufacturer starting to make cars! Imagine that!
